Narrative Through Kinetic Images
Projects I completed for my Fall Narrative Through Kinetic Images course in 2025
Project 1: Montage
For this assignment, the students were asked to create a montage that lasted at least 60 seconds. For mine, I decided to tell the story of a science team on a foreign planet studying a new plant specimen. The montage flashes between the calm, quiet past and the disturbing present in which the plant has gained sentience and has attacked the team.
Project 2: Title Sequence
This assignment asked that the students select a book without a movie adaptation and then create an opening title sequence for said book. The book I chose was Animorphs Book 1: The Invasion by K.A Applegate. The book begins with the group of main characters running into one another at a mall in the late 1990’s. The young teens, after leaving the mall together, happen upon a series of events that leads to them gaining the ability to turn into animals in hopes of fighting off an alien army intent on invading earth. As such, my title sequence captures the moments right before the characters come together while graphics depicting the animals they turn into appear over their faces.
Project 3: Stop Motion
The last project the class was assigned was to make a stop motion animation that lasted at least 30 seconds. For mine, I chose to use cardboard dolls to tell the story of a father working overseas who is greeted by a letter in the mail from his family.
